Why am I not getting Views on Etsy? Read here to find out!

Why You Aren’t Getting Views on Etsy

One of the most common questions I answer, is “Why aren’t I getting any views on Etsy?”  Whether you are a new shop or have been around for a while, increasing traffic is important at every stage of the game.  So Let’s dive into why you aren’t getting those views each day!

1. SEO

Let’s start at the beginning.  You need to get search impressions before you can get people to click on your listings and get those views up.  If you haven’t researched SEO yet, head on over to my Facebook Group by clicking this link.  I have a ton of free training in there that is a great place to start!  For those of you who don’t know, SEO is Search Engine Optimization.  That’s how Etsy uses your Titles and Tags to rank you in search.  The search rankings also involve a lot of other factors including shipping price, reviews, sales, etc.  But you need to have solid keywords no matter what.

2. Photos

Is your SEO on point, but you still aren’t getting any views for your Etsy shop?  Once you have your keywords down you’ll probably start getting some search impressions.  So if you are showing up in search, but aren’t getting any visits to your shop you’ll want to really assess how your product photos are doing.  Are you enticing those people to click on your items?  If your photography isn’t cutting it, you’ll want to retake photos or hire someone to do it for you.  They really are your buyers first impression of your shop, so make sure they look professional!

3.  Number of Listings

There is no magic number for how many listings you should have on Etsy.  I’ve seen shops with only 10 items with thousands of sales!  There are probably other factors like social media involved in these cases, but it does prove that you can make anything work as long as you have good products.  If you have less than 40 or so listings and aren’t getting any visits to your shop, adding new items should definitely be a priority though.  It helps for a few reasons.  You’ll really saturate your shop for your most important keywords and you’ll be able to expand the number of keywords you are being found for.

4. Time of Year

This one can be so frustrating for people, but sometimes it’s just the time of year!  Summer months are often slower for handmade businesses.  People are out and about and being active instead of shopping.  Want to try to combat this?  Think seasonal!  May is a great time to introduce new designs for the Fourth of July.  Slow in June?  Start thinking of Back to School!  Slow August?  Get yourself ready for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.  I promise it’s not too early!

Summary:

There are so many factors that go into getting traffic on Etsy.  Hopefully after you read this, you’ll understand why your shop isn’t getting any views on Etsy.  Start at the top of the list with SEO and work your way down.  As always, let me know if you have any questions in the comments!
