10 Ways to Prepare Your Home for Holiday Guests

The holidays are almost here and that means more guests in your home. Check out these 10 ways to prepare your home for holiday guests.

1. Get guest information all in one place.

Your guests are going to need the wifi password for sure! Place that along with additional information like emergency contacts in the guest room for easy access. Make it pretty with this dry erase sign.

2. Clean and declutter.

Declutter problem areas like your entryway, living room, and kitchen before guests arrive. And don't forget those seasonal tasks that never get done like cleaning the oven and washing the baseboards. I love using this annual checklist.

3. Make your guest room comfy.

Throw in some extra pillows, a nice comfy blanket, and blackout curtains to make guest rooms super comfy for overnight guests.

4. Provide toiletries.

Make your home super convenient for guests by providing toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, hair products, and more.

Bonus points for making them pretty in refillable bottles like these.

5. Create a welcome basket.

How amazed are your guests going to be when they walk into your guest room and find a welcome basket just for them. Think cozy slippers, local snacks, and luxurious lotions.

6. Festive decorations.

Nothing says welcome like guests pulling up to a home with some festive touches. Don't forget areas like the guest bathroom! It doesn't take much to make your home feel festive, so don't feel like you need to overdo it.

7. Plan meals and snacks.

Planning meals and snacks ahead of time will mean your guests are happy and you're not scrambling with last minute grocery store trips.

8. Entertainment options.

Board games, card games, or digital...have some options for your guests to keep entertained. My family members of all ages love Taco Vs. Burrito.

9. Extra seating.

Every year we have guests over and forget about everyone needing a place to sit! Grab some temporary extra seating before you forget!

10. Make your house smell homey.

I get compliments all the time when I'm burning some of my favorite candles from Oswald and Ari. Stock up on every scent to have some variation while your guests are here.
